TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 7pm A special panel about writing and social transformation, featuring local writers and poets Kaie Kellough (Lettricity) Trish Salah (Wanting In Arabic: Poems) and others. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 11am-2pm Come see what resources and volunteer opportunities exist on campus and in the Montreal community. Lunch served by the People’s Potato. The tabling fair will also include a live broadcast by CKUT community radio (1-2pm), and a stenciling workshop by the Ste-Emilie Skillshare. There will be more than 25 local groups present. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2pm (sharp!) Join us on this unique tour and learn an alternative history of student and community struggles on campus and beyond. This engaging tour will explore student mobilizing against racism and tuition hikes, to social movements of international solidarity and against global capitalism. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 5-7pm This social, including snacks and drinks, will allow students to meet with community groups, and learn more about the Community-University Research Exchange (CURE) and how to make your class work meaningful beyond campus. Community groups will give short presentations about their work and research needs. Welcome to students from all campuses. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 7pm As part of Keeping it Reel: QPIRG Concordia’s Subversive Cinema Series, and on the eve of the protests against the G-20 in Pittsburgh, we present The Fourth World War by Big Noise Films. From the front-lines of conflicts in Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Palestine, Korea, and the North; from Seattle to Genova, and the War on Terror in New York, Afghanistan, and Iraq, The Fourth World War is the story of men and women around the world who resist being annihilated in this war. Narrated by Michael Franti and Suheir Hammad. The evening program will also include short films about local community struggles. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 3-5pm Rising tuition and the under-funding of education in Quebec affects all students. Instead of fighting separately, we should join forces! This summer, students from francophone and anglophone campuses and unions in Montreal came together to start a united campaign: Montreal Students Against Tuition Increase. Come hear students from different universities and Cegeps talk about the history of tuition fees and the student movement in Quebec, and how to join the movement! Refreshments will be provided. Organized by the GSA with the support of QPIRG Concordia. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 9pm This music show and dance party features the thundering beats and earthy tones of the Kalmunity Vibe Collective the city's wickedest musicians presenting live & organic flavors of R&B, hip-hop, afrobeat, funk, reggae and soul. The concert also includes Iraqi MC/Media Master (via Concordia U) the Narcicyst, and youth hip-hop by Writing our Rhymes Down (WORD).
