OpenMedia.ca is a network-structured, education and campaign-oriented, movement-building, national, non-profit and non-partisan organization working to open up media and communications in Canada. Our primary goal is to increase public awareness and informed participation in Canadian media policy formation. OpenMedia.ca is the primary organization behind the innovative SaveOurNet.ca coalition and the Fresh Media project.
Research description:
OpenMedia.ca seeks a series of one- to two-page educational briefs, including original research (if necessary) but intended for a public audience, on a series of poorly understood and/or controversial topics related to media and communications policy in Canada. These include: Foreign ownership; Copyright; Transition to digital TV; The CRTC; Investigative journalism; Canadian Media Fund; Media ownership; and Spectrum Allocation. The final product will be disseminated through OpenMedia.ca's website and the websites of its affiliated projects and partners, used in educational outreach activities at high schools and universities, and made available at our public events.

One to two page handouts, and (ideally) videos.
