QPIRG Concordia is hiring for 2 work study positions for the Fall Semester (January-April 2020).
– Social Justice Outreach Coordinator – Quebec Work Study position
– Community Archive Coordinator – Concordia (out-of-province student)Work Study position

WORK STUDY PROJECT NUMBER: Q 30415-33
You must be an QUEBEC student approved for work study.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The social justice outreach coordinator will work alongside the staff of QPIRG Concordia. This position will concentrate on the promotion of QPIRG events and projects to the campus and the wider community. This position will also include updating and designing promotional materials and managing social media accounts.
DUTIES:
-Promote QPIRG events and activities (including working groups)
-Postering for upcoming events
-Classroom announcements
-Flyering (such as at Cinema Politica, People’s Potato, elsewhere)
-Social media outreach (facebook, instagram)
-Attend planning meetings for QPIRG initiatives and events
-Designing posters and flyers for QPIRG events
-Liaising with other campus organizations and groups about community-based social justice research
-Encouraging other student and community members to volunteer at QPIRG, in coordination with QPIRG staff
KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
-ability to work independently and with groups
-ability to communication with people of diverse backgrounds
-proven organizational and time management skills
-ability to take initiative and work independently
-very good written and oral communication skills in English and French
-creative problem-solving skills

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Community Archive Coordinator will be responsible for QPIRG Concordia’s Grassroots Resistance Archive, an archive of posters, pamphlets and publications, as well as banners, buttons and other materials. The archive includes a physical and virtual component. The Community Archive Coordinator will work alongside the staff and volunteers at the Quebec Public Interest Research Group (QPIRG) at Concordia University. This position will concentrate on the development, organization, expansion and outreach of the Grassroots Resistance Archive.

DUTIES:
– Work with QPIRG staff and volunteers to identify improving and promoting the Grassroots Resistance Archive
– Develop strategies to publicize the Grassroots Resistance Archive to Concordia students and the broader community
– Scan, digitize and catalogue archival materials (including posters, pamphlets and publications);
– Update and improve the online archive;
– Organize and maintain the physical archive;
– Update and improve the website, including database and graphic design;
– Promote the Grassroots Resistance Archive through outreach materials as well as at least one public event;
– Incorporate archival materials from QPIRG Concordia working groups and community organizations into the archive;
– Submit a final report detailing work completed to the board of directors at the end of the work study period.
