The BETHUNE BLOCK PARTY is an afternoon-long demonstration & teach-in, to reclaim both campus and community space, and to create and celebrate community in the heart of downtown Montreal. Bethune Square — de Maisonneuve Boulevard between Guy & Mackay — will be transformed into a grassroots and accessible space to share food, music, art & ideas. Join us!
Scheduled workshops/discussions include:
2:00-3:00pm: Access to space on campus (CSU & allies)
2:00-3:00pm: Alternative food distribution and radical food politics (People’s Potato & Frigo Vert)
3:15-4:15pm: Access to education (Free Education Montreal)
3:15-4:15pm: Gentrification in Montreal (QPIRG Concordia & allies)
4:30-5:30pm: Independent and alternative media (CUTV, CJLO & allies)
4:30-5:30pm: Occupying public space worldwide (inspiring examples from Tunisia, Egypt, Greece, Spain & Chile)
