Gentrification can seem inevitable. As condos spring up like mushrooms, rent creeps ever higher, and available apartments become harder and harder to find, how can we resist the mass displacement of socio-economically marginal groups from popular neighborhoods? This workshop will address the structural and cultural aspects of gentrification, and suggest both individual and collective strategies for resisting the process. Presented by Fred Burill, recipient of a QPIRG Concordia summer research stipend, as well as members of Right to the City, a working group of QPIRG Concordia.
