ABOUT CURE: The Community-University Research Exchange (CURE) is a database by which students can integrate their academic research with the work of local movements and activist organizations. Through the administrative infrastructures already in place at McGill and Concordia University, students may complete a CURE research project as an independent study course, internship, or thesis advised by a departmental professor, or as a term project for an upper-level class. By connecting students to non-profit community groups with limited resources, we hope to encourage and support academic research that is socially relevant. – skills in poster/flyer design and printing
– budgeting and financial management experience

– volunteer experience and/or working within a volunteer organization
– knowledge of other languages, including sign languages
– experience working in both Mac and PC environments
– skills in MS Word, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver or WordPress, HTML or other desktop publishing softwares
Duties:
– to coordinate, develop and implement outreach strategy to promote the Community University Research Exchange (CURE) research request database, and other programming
– work one-on-one with students to match them with research requests and facilitate them through CURE processes (agreement forms, communication, etc.)
– work with QPIRG staff to design, print and distribute CURE outreach materials (flyers, posters, translated materials, etc.)
– work with professors, departments and student groups to promote CURE research requests amongst faculty and university bodies
– work with volunteer committee and QPIRG staff to develop and implement outreach strategies for soliciting research requests
– maintain project budget
– apply to various campus departments for project funding and outreach support
– recruit and work with volunteers and volunteer committee members
– promote QPIRG’s social and environmental justice mandate
