i) Alternative Library Coordinator (I-23408-23)
ii) Translation Coordinator, English to French (I-23410-23)

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Alternative Library Coordinator will work alongside the staff and volunteers at the Quebec Public Interest Research Group (QPIRG) at Concordia University. This position will concentrate on the development, organization, and outreach of QPIRG Concordia’s Alternative Library, and the maintenance and expansion of the QPIRG Concordia Poster Archive. Purpose of job:
To coordinate development, organization, and publicity of QPIRG Concordia’s Alternative Library, an alternative publicly-accessible library of magazines, videos, books and pamphlets covering issues such as anti-racism, global economics, political theory, gender, environmentalism, health, and community organizing skills.
Duties:
– Work with QPIRG staff and volunteers to identify gaps in the QPIRG Alternative Library (e.g. French language materials, materials on issues faced by students with disabilities, etc.)
– Work with committee to research and order new materials (books, magazines, tapes/CDs, videos, etc.)
– Recruit and work with volunteers for Resource Center committee
– Budget for purchasing of new materials
– Create database to catalogue Resource Centre materials
– Train volunteers in data entry and database maintenance
– Organize a user-friendly and accessible system for borrowing and returning materials
– Organize training sessions for QPIRG staff and volunteers on efficient use of the system
– Develop strategy to publicize the Alternative Library to Concordia students and the broader community

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Translation Coordinator will work alongside the staff and volunteers at the Quebec Public Interest Research Group (QPIRG) at Concordia University. This position will concentrate on translating QPIRG’s core documents, publicity and outreach materials, and parts of the website into French.
Knowledge and Skills Required:

– access to a computer and Internet access outside of QPIRG office
